OpenAI buys from AWS
OpenAI expanded its November 2025 AWS agreement by $100 billion over eight years, committing to consume about 2 GW of Trainium capacity across Trainium3 and next-generation Trainium4 chips. In the same partnership Amazon agreed to invest $50 billion in OpenAI — $15 billion up front and $35 billion once conditions are met.
